Join birders, boaters and Lake Almanor’s most celebrated diving birds this weekend at the 2023 Grebe Festival.
Sponsored by Plumas Audubon Society, the weekend includes a series of events August 5 and 6 at the Olsen Barn Meadow in Chester and various spots around Lake Almanor.
Plumas Audubon and other partner organizations are celebrating Western and Clark’s Grebes, which spend their summers nesting and raising their chicks on the reservoir waters. The weekend includes a presentation about grebes, birding tours, kayak and pontoon boat tours on Lake Almanor, kids activities, a silent auction, food and beverages, live music, and more, said Ryan Thoni, executive director of Plumas Audubon.
