The California Department of Transportation reports that Caltrans District 2 personnel, along with Hat Creek Construction and Materials, are preparing to begin continued slide repairs on State Route 89. The $1.22 million project will further address slide activity near Canyon Dam, approximately 0.4 mile from the Wolf Creek Underpass. Operations on the project will include slope excavation and grading, debris removal, and placement of rock slope protection and erosion control.
Starting Wednesday, Aug. 16, Caltrans reports that motorists should plan for 24/7 traffic control in the area with up to 15-minute delays. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by early October.
Though Caltrans and its contractors do their best to keep the public informed, construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice.
