Tommy Spradley, age 4, is fighting cancer for the second time, and his extended family in the Lake Almanor Basin is organizing several fundraising events to help cover the costs of his medical treatment, reports Tommy’s great-grandmother, Sheryl Hart. The Langrehr family, of which the Spradley family are descendants, have lived in the Almanor Basin for 48 years, and the majority of the family still resides in the area.
This Saturday, Aug. 19, diners can attend a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Calvary Chapel in Westwood (315 Ash St.). The event runs 5 – 7 p.m. and tickets are $15. For more information, contact Hart at (530) 200-0600.
Hart also reports that the family will be offering a large bake sale at the Courage Triathlon on the Lake Almanor Peninsula Saturday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Come look for Tommy’s Crew,” she said.
On Saturday, Sept. 2, a benefit event at the Chester Memorial Hall (225 Gay St.) will feature tri-tip sandwiches, an auction, and a giveaway with “valuable prizes,” said Hart. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner starts at 5:30. Tickets are $20 each, and they are available at Another Man’s Treasure, Chester Auto Body, Sierra Hospice, and Treats, or from Tim Langrehr at (530) 518-5534 or Kristin Tissot at (530) 816-1012.
