KQNY 91.9 FM is proud to present a local radio news program in cooperation with the Plumas Sun. “KQNY Radio News” premiered at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 21st.
The show is produced and hosted by dedicated KQNY volunteers Miles Brooks and Beth Rouse. Brooks, a.k.a. DJ Bombus, is the host of two well-received music shows on the station, “Cross Pollination” and “The Bloom Room.” Rouse is a member of KQNY’s board of directors.
KQNY Radio News draws its content directly from the Plumas Sun, among other sources. Several of KQNY’s board members, volunteers, and staff have been involved with the Sun’s development and evolution.
“We’re very proud to be part of this collaboration,” said KQNY General Manager Tommy Miles. “It’s been amazing to see Plumas Sun and this radio show come together in such a short time, and the community is very fortunate to have these information sources available.”
“We’re very proud to be part of this collaboration.”
Tommy Miles, KQNY general manager
The show airs at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Wednesday and at 4:00 PM on Thursday. The show is also accessible for up to two weeks after the Thursday broadcast on KQNY’s stream archive. Information on how to access the archive can be found at www.KQNY919.org.
At present, a new show is produced each Sunday evening, but Miles expressed hope that the station will be able to produce multiple episodes per week and expand the broadcast times as more volunteers come on board to assist with the show. “We’re following the same approach that the Plumas Sun team has used so successfully: Start small and let it grow!” said Miles.
