Wednesday Play Day, Aug. 30

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, 27 players participated in the Graeagle Men’s Golf Association Play Day. Players competed in a one-man scramble format. In this format each player can use two mulligans (do-overs) on each hole, but when choosing to take a mulligan, the first ball is abandoned. First place was won by Gene Carr with a net score of 58. Second place was a tie between Chuck Hein and Norm Nichols with net scores of 60. Fourth place was a five-way tie among Gary Sharrow, John Mitchell, Paul Senft, Mark Yuill, and Dennis Flynn, all with net scores of 61. “Skins” were not awarded.

Friday Play Day, Sept. 1

There were 20 players signed up for the Friday Play Day on Sept. 1; 12 players weathered the pouring rain but were only able to play nine holes. Afterward, several reported being soaked to the bone. There were comments about whether they were 12 hardy men or 12 dumb golfers. Both descriptions were accurate. The game of the day was individual low net plus “skins.” First place was won by Dan Anerson with a net score of 31. Second place was won by Paul Senft with a net score of 34. Third place was a tie between Chuck Franck and Grant Mayfield, both with net scores of 35. There were two “skins” awarded: one each to Dan Anderson and Grant Mayfield.
