Today is the second day of the fall blood drive in Quincy, and the organizers are looking for donors willing to give a pint of blood.
Sponsored by the Quincy Lions Club, the blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on the corner of Bucks Lake Road and Bellamy Lane just west of the hospital.
Vitalant, based in Reno, sets up a complete blood lab in Quincy every three months, It also holds drives in Portola and Chester, said Elizabeth Smailes, blood drive coordinator.
“Be sure to eat a solid meal before donating blood—and don’t worry about dessert,” said Smailes.
After donating blood, the Lions will provide donors with a selection of “notoriously delicious cookies from Grandma Jane’s Bakery,” she said.
Smailes reminded donors to bring a photo I.D. New donors are always welcome, she said. “And it’s easier than you think.”
