Quincy Firewise to discuss home hardening, fuel thinning

Quincy Firewise members welcome guest speaker Greg Kinne to their monthly community meeting Wednesday, Sept. 27. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the West End Theatre at 541 Main St. (enter through Quintopia). Quincy Firewise invites all Quincy residents, including those from surrounding areas, as well as residents of other Firewise Communities, to attend.

Kinne is a retired contractor and artist who works as a volunteer for Quincy Firewise and the Plumas Underburn Cooperative. He is a certified wildfire mitigation specialist, certified by the National Fire Protection Association. Quincy Firewise reports that Kinne will be discussing home hardening, proper fuel thinning, and the importance of having nothing combustible in the five feet directly around a house. Kinne will also share information about completed, current, and future projects regarding local residential maintenance and thinning programs.
