Meeting and two-man scramble
On Wednesday, Sept. 20, the Graeagle Meadows Men’s Golf Association held its annual fall general membership meeting and election of board members. The officers for the 2024 season are as follows:
- Mark Yuill, president
- Dan Friedman, vice president
- Jeff Monaghan, past president
- Grant Mayfield, treasurer, membership chair
- Mike Irving, rules committee chair
- Bert Bellows, food committee chair
- Paul Senft, tournament committee chair
- Norm Miller, communication committee chair
- Steve Peterson and Nate Coates, members at large
Following the meeting 24 players competed in the two-man scramble tournament. The winning team was Nate Coats and Dan Friedman with a net score of 63. Second was the team of Mike Simpson and Bob Laxague with a net score of 65. Third place was a four-way tie among Gene Carr and Tom Fregulia, Dave Macdonald and Ron Eaton, Chuck Hein and Norm Nichols, and Bill Thomas and Don Judson, all with net scores of 67.
Playoff qualifications, Ts and Fs
On Thursday, Sept. 21, the following Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club players qualified to compete in the annual Ace of Aces Playoff set for Sept. 28: Cheryl Brennan, low gross, with a gross score of 96; and Shelly Drake and Renee Miller, low net, both with net scores of 79.
The game of the day was Ts and Fs, in which only the scores on holes beginning with a T or F (i.e., holes 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.) count as the game score. The winners were Michele Violett, first low gross, with 34; Cynthia Baldwin, second low gross (42); Cheryl Brennan, first low net (29.5); and Nancy Linch, second low net (33). Renee Miller scored a gross birdie and Michele Violett had one chip-in.
