The Pumpkin Patch Express rolls into town Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21 and 22, and Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28 and 29, at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola. The family-friendly event includes train rides and a pumpkin patch.
The museum will open at 10 a.m. all four days. Trains will depart hourly from 1 to 5 p.m. for the pumpkin patch. Visitors can ride the train, which departs hourly from 1 to 5 p.m., to get to the pumpkin patch, where they can select pumpkins for purchase. On Saturday nights, visitors can ride the “super spooky night trains” that depart hourly between 7 and 9 p.m. Gates close at 6 p.m. on Sundays and 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays.


There will also be special exhibits and a food truck on site. Admission is free for Feather River Rail Society members. Nonmember admission is $10 per carload, or $5 with the donation of three nonperishable canned goods for Eastern Plumas Community Assistance Network, Portola’s food
bank.
The Western Pacific Railroad Museum/Feather River Rail Society is a nonprofit public service organization. The hands-on railroad museum features a collection of Western Pacific rolling stock, memorabilia, historic documents, and a gift shop. The museum is located at 700 Western Pacific Way.
