Beloved mother and friend, Gretta Hesselschwerdt of Hood River, Oregon passed away on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at her residence with family at her bedside.
Gretta was born on Aug. 19, 1927, in Urbana, Illinois. She lived in Urbana, Clio, Grass Valley, California, and Hood River, Oregon. She lived in the town of Clio from 1970 to 2010 and was married to one of the community physicians, Dr. Hesselschwerdt.
She is survived by her three children, Andy Green, Kate Dwyer, and Barbara Dworschak; their children, Allie Dworschak, Christa Fink, and Rory Green; six great-grandchildren, Parker, Brooks, Lochlan Fink, Huck and Maisel Green, and Owen Pitts.
Gretta was a 1949 graduate of the University of Illinois and earned her private pilot’s license in 1967.
The family will hold a celebration of Gretta’s life on Nov. 11, 2023, at 1 p.m. in Hood River, Oregon/ White Salmon, Washington.
