Quincy Sparkle offers evening of seasonal celebration

Friday, Dec. 1, marks the Quincy Chamber of Commerce’s 33rd annual Sparkle celebration, which organizers say promises an evening of fun, shopping, and entertainment. The event begins at 5 p.m., with local merchants and restaurants staying open late for Christmas shopping opportunities and food tasting.

Live entertainment kicks off on the Courthouse steps at 5:30. This year the entertainment lineup includes Lilah Washburn with Elli Leff, Rhythm and Grace Dance Studio, The High Sierra Winter Witches, Johnny Walker, Quircus, and more. KJDX radio from Susanville will be on hand with Aaron and Amanda offering holiday greetings, and Plumas Community Hospice will announce the winner of its quilt giveaway.

At 6 p.m. all participants in the Light Parade begin staging in the Plumas Motor Supply parking lot. For those who wish to participate, Light Parade entry forms are available at https://www.quincychamber.com/Sparkle. The deadline to enter is Friday, Nov. 24.

Sparkle participants can look out for Santa as he arrives at the Courthouse around 7 p.m., compliments of the Quincy Volunteer Fire Department. Santa will be at his usual spot in front of the Courthouse; parents can bring their cameras or cell phones for free pictures of the kids with Santa.

For a complete schedule of events, visit https://www.quincychamber.com/sparkle. Organizers report that the schedule is still evolving, so those interested can check back for updates. “Be sure to support our local restaurants and shops that night; this event wouldn’t be nearly as wonderful as it is without all the hard work they put into decorating, serving, and selecting the very best gifts for you to choose from,” say chamber personnel. “Bring your friends, bring your family, and enjoy the tradition of Sparkle!”

Any merchants or food vendors wanting to participate need to fill out a vendor booth application, also available at https://www.quincychamber.com/Sparkle. The chamber requests that those planning to sell food or beverages call the chamber as soon as possible at (530) 394-0541 so that chamber personnel can ensure any necessary permits are in place with Environmental Health prior to the event.

In addition to visiting the website, those with questions can email info@quincychamber.com or call (530) 394-0541 to learn more.
