Plumas County has received two payments from Trindel Insurance Co. for county property lost during the 2021 Dixie fire. One, for $22,500, is for the contents of the Greenville Sheriff’s Substation; the other, for $1,875, is for the books and other contents of the Greenville branch library, county Auditor/Controller Martee Graham told the supervisors Nov. 14.
The payments are part of a $2.2 million insurance claim filed by the county for the loss of three buildings and damages to two Department of Public Works centers in Greenville.
Graham recommended setting up a new fund to house insurance payments, which are now expected to total $1,761,763. The monies are currently invested in the county’s investment pool, where they are earning interest for the county.
The supervisors voted 4 to 0 to approve Supervisor Jeff Engel’s motion to transfer the insurance payments into the Board of Supervisors fund administered by Debra Lucero, the county administrative officer.
