Soroptimist honors Soropti-student Simone Smith

Each year the Quincy Junior-Senior High School faculty selects seven seniors for Soroptimist International of Quincy to honor as Soropti-students based on their integrity, leadership, community service, and activities.

October Soropti-student Simone Smith is this year’s senior class president and student representative on the Quincy High School Site Council. Her outstanding leadership was also recognized in her selection to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening program.

Smith’s activities include three years on this year’s league champion QHS varsity volleyball team. She was also selected to receive the California Interscholastic Federation Individual Scholastic Achievement Award. Other activities include participation in the California Scholarship Federation, QHS Book Club, leadership class, and numerous community service volunteer projects as a four-year member of the Service Club.

Smith’s senior project is a mock trial and job shadow of local attorneys. She is mentored by Plumas County District Attorney David Hollister. Her senior project includes setting up the mock trial with student peers at the Plumas County Courthouse. One of her school’s top academic achievers, Smith plans to attend a four-year university majoring in political science and pursue a career as a civil rights attorney.
