Joyce Tande

Nov. 11, 1937 - Oct. 31, 2023

Joyce Tande, 85, of Quincy, California, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Oct. 31, 2023, at Yucca Valley, California. She was born Nov. 11, 1937, in San Pedro, California, to Charles and Ruth Eberhardt. She married Douglas Tande in 1956. Doug passed away in 2019 after 63 years of marriage.

Joyce and Doug began their married life in southern California, moving to Plumas County 56 years ago. They lived in Graeagle, Meadow Valley, and Quincy.  She was active in the First Baptist, Springs of Living Hope, and Meadow Valley Community Churches during different times in her life. Joyce did sewing for people, and also kept her children clothed with her sewing machine for many years. She started Tande Custom Draperies in 1972, running it for 20 years.

Joyce held community Bible clubs at her house when her children were young and served in a jail ministry for 40 years. She also worked with the Crisis Pregnancy Center while it was operating. God was her mainstay during her life, and she tried her best to carry the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to others.

She is survived by her children: Linda (Bob) Waldo of O’Neill, Nebraska; Mark Tande of Butterfly Valley, California; Yvonne (Curtis) Hill of Columbia, Missouri; Lisa (Daniel) Hanna of Yucca  Valley, California; grandchildren Nicole, Amy, Robert Jr., Luke, Jillian, Curtis Jr., Daniel, Joshua, David and Rachel; 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother Charles (Chuck)Eberhardt.

The family is planning to have a celebration of life service in the spring.
