Plumas Arts is pleased to feature Soulstice Strings at Patti’s Thunder Café for December’s Words & Music on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. Soulstice Strings has been a favorite holiday performance for the past several years, and promises a cozy evening of music and community.
Soulstice Strings is a reunion of a string quartet originally named the String Beings, formed when members Holly Sternberg, Kelsey Kepple, and Chris Retallack were fifth- and sixth-graders at Quincy Elementary School. At the time, they were playing in Face the Music Studio’s Elementary String Orchestra, named Pulling Strings.
The program will be eclectic, with the group performing a variety of music from modern to classics to Celtic fiddling. They will also include a few holiday songs.

“Soulstice Strings will amaze you with their talent! This is always a beautiful and uplifting Words & Music, and a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.”, said Plumas Arts Executive Director, Kara Rockett-Arsenault. She urged others to join in by bringing an instrument or a spoken word performance for open mic following the featured artist performance.
Patti’s Thunder Café will offer baked goods, coffee, tea, and specialty drinks including wine, and beer for purchase. Located at 557 Lawrence St Quincy, California, it has been the host of Words & Music for several decades.
Words & Music is a program of Plumas Arts, featuring acoustic performances of music and the spoken word. Doors open at 6:45, with the featured artist starting at 7 p.m.. The show goes until 9 p.m. Sign up at the door for an open mic spot. Late sign ups may not be included, so Rockett-Arsenault encouraged early arrival.
