Chester PieceMakers deliver quilts, gifts to local preschoolers

Members of the Chester PieceMakers Quilt Guild recently delivered special gifts to local preschoolers: each child received a quilt, a stuffed toy, and a book to take home.

Guild member Kathy Gipson reported that she and fellow members work on the “heart warmer” quilts all year round. Then in December they assemble and deliver gift bundles to the children of two local state preschools, one in Chester and one in Westwood.

Donated quilts, each wrapped around a book and a stuffed toy, await their recipients at the Chester preschool.

Gipson said the group has been together for over 30 years and has been making heart warmers from “almost the beginning.” They have been donating to preschoolers for about 10 years. “Quilts are also given to people in need, people after fires,” she said. “We now give some to Sierra Hospice in Chester, and they choose people that need comfort.”

“The members like to make quilts for kiddos; they have good hearts,” said Gipson. “It is always great to do good for others.”
