Newcomers Murphy Wylde featured at Words & Music

Plumas Arts features the “quirky and delightful” music of Murphy Wylde at Patti’s Thunder Café for January’s Words & Music program Thursday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. Murphy Wylde is made up of Liam Galleher Murphy and Ross Wylde, both new performers to Words & Music.

Murphy reports that he likes to write about forests and sunsets, while Wylde likes to write about breakups and inner turmoil. “For some reason it makes sense,” they say. Murphy and Wylde live in Quincy with their attention-demanding and food-motivated dog, Nellie Lou. They have both been musicians for many years.

“Murphy Wylde will uplift you with their beautiful harmonies and is a perfect way start off the new year,” said Plumas Arts Executive Director Kara Rockett-Arsenault. As always, attendees are encouraged to join in by bringing a prepared instrumental or spoken word performance for open mic following the featured artist performance.

Patti’s Thunder Café will offer baked goods, coffee, tea and specialty drinks including wine and
beer for purchase. Located at 557 Lawrence St. in Quincy, the venue has been the host of Words & Music for 35 years.

Words & Music is a program of Plumas Arts, featuring acoustic performances of music and the
spoken word. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., with the featured artist starting at 7. The show lasts until
9 p.m. Participants are encouraged to sign up early at the door for an open mic spot.

Admission is $3, payable in cash or via Venmo. For more information, call (530) 283-3402 or visit http://www.plumasarts.org.
