UPDATE: On Feb. 14, the Oroville office of the California Highway Patrol reported that Highway 70 was open through the Feather River Canyon, with multiple areas of one-way traffic control.
Caltrans reports that State Route 70 through the Feather River Canyon is again closed from Jarbo Gap to the Greenville Wye. The closure was caused by a rockslide in the early morning Feb. 2 near the Shady Rest Area at Post Mile 46. There is no estimated time for reopening.
A previous slide caused the highway to be closed Jan. 22. The Canyon reopened Jan. 30 after a delay due to the development of a sinkhole in the westbound lane near Storrie.
This area is prone to slides and closures during inclement weather. For current conditions, visit https://roads.dot.ca.gov/ or the Caltrans District 2 or District 3 Facebook pages.
