Book Study welcomes all to Zoom discussions

Book Study is a journey of literary exploration through a weekly book group that starts Monday, Feb. 12, via Zoom. Participants will have the opportunity to delve into the depths of literature, with thought-provoking discussions continuing in the following weeks.

“Everyone is welcome! We try to meet weekly and discuss two or three chapters at a time,” said Ky Prevette, Book Study participant and volunteer.

The group’s first selected book is “Being Mortal,” by Atul Gawande, acclaimed author and surgeon. The book is billed as a profound exploration into the realms of “medicine and what matters in the end.”

No registration is required to participate in this virtual book group, said Prevette. Simply purchase or borrow the book to join the literary fun. A limited number of copies are available at Plumas County Library branches in Chester, Quincy and Portola. When asked why this book study was created, Prevette said, “This is for the love of books, making new friends, exploring other points of view, and it’s all enriching!” The Book Study group is sponsored by the Portola United Methodist Church.
