Summerfest, a nonprofit fundraiser presented by the Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council, is held annually on the last Sunday in June. This year it is set for June 30, 3 to 7:30 p.m. at White Sulphur Springs Ranch, 2200 Highway 89 in Clio. The Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council is dedicated to restoring this historical property.
Organizers report that Summerfest is an outdoor event complete with entertainment, food, auctions and a no-host bar. The restored ranch house will be open for tours between 3 and 4 p.m.
Matt Axton’s five-piece band from Tahoe City returns to provide entertainment, as it did in 2023. Axton describes his music as a mixture of folk, country and rock. He comes from a long line of prestigious musicians. Matt’s dad was Hoyt Axton, a prolific songwriter and country and western entertainer. His grandmother, Mae Boren Axton, wrote the song “Heartbreak Hotel” for Elvis Presley. “Matt is sure to be a hit with attendees,” say organizers.
For food, the event will feature appetizers and a tri-tip ranch barbecue with all the trimmings.
Tickets will become available May 1 and can be purchased online at www.WhiteSulphurSpringsRanch.com. Plans for Summerfest 2024 are being finalized and details will follow but organizers invite interested parties to save the date for this Plumas County tradition.
