Free introductory youth mountain bike rides offered

“Do you want to try mountain biking?” asks the Lost Sierra Composite Mountain Bike Team. Organizers are inviting all youth in grades six through 12, as well as their parents, to join in guided rides as follows:

  • March 11, meet at the Taylorsville Campground.
  • March 12, meet at Portola City Park.
  • March 14, meet at Quincy Barlow Trailhead.

The rides will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. each evening. Each ride will be guided by Lost Sierra Composite Mountain Bike Team coaches; all rides are free of charge.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about mountain biking, see what the team is all about, and sign up for the season if they wish. Mountain bikes and riding gear are available to those who need them, but participants are welcome to bring their own bike and gear as well.

For more information, reach out to Dana Marty, Lost Sierra Composite director, at [email protected] and visit https://lostsierracomp.weebly.com/.

Lost Sierra Composite is a cross-country mountain bike team that formed in spring 2019. The team consists of local coaches and Plumas County youth. “Coaches and riders of Lost Sierra Composite have a ton of fun out on the local trails building skills, fitness, confidence, making friends, and exploring our backyard,” say organizers.

Riders have the opportunity to race in USA Cycling events or just ride on the team to have fun and challenge themselves individually. The organization offers a supportive and encouraging team culture and welcomes any new rider regardless of previous experience.
