The Firewise communities of the Lake Almanor Basin are hosting a meeting for all residents and landowners in the area. It will be held March 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Chester Fire Department at 251 Chester Airport Rd.
Organizers report that the event will include information on the standards for making a home more resistant to fire, including the new Zone 0. “Creating this defensible space may make a big difference in your insurance costs and the ability to get fire insurance for your home,” said organizer Darrah Hopper.
Hopper reported that the focus of the meeting will be on resources local residents and landowners can use, including subsidized programs, to help with property cleanup. Contractors for hire to do cleanup and tree removal work will also be available, she said. Attendees will be able to sign up and make appointments on the spot, with plenty of time to talk to presenters over coffee and cookies.
Anyone with a tree or landscaping business they would like to present is invited to contact Hopper at [email protected]. Any questions may be directed to her there also.
