Soropti-student Danielle Weaver honored

Soropti-student Danielle Weaver, one of seven seniors chosen by the Quincy Junior-Senior High School faculty for her activities, leadership, community service and academic performance, was honored at the Soroptimist International of Quincy January lunch meeting.

Weaver was also selected as the Quincy High Student of the Month for October 2023. She was awarded scholar athlete honors as a member of the league champion volleyball team and is also a member of the league champion basketball team. Weaver was awarded the California Interscholastic Federation Northern Section Individual Scholastic Achievement Award.

Weaver commented that she has loved art as long as she can remember, improving from drawing on walls and the back of the couch to later “piles and piles” of sketchbooks. As part of the Quincy High advanced placement art class, she is expanding her techniques including exploring and discovering new and different media.

Artistic and communication skills are evident in Weaver’s senior project: painting the backdrop for graduation. She said she chose this project because it involves the entire class and offers a way to give back to her school.

Her personal experience is leading Weaver to an art therapy career where she can use art to help struggling individuals. She plans to attend Feather River College and transfer to a four-year college majoring in psychology.
