The Chester PieceMakers Quilt Guild announces an upcoming class on hand applique taught by Carol Bornhorst. The workshop is set for March 12 starting at 10 a.m. at the Sierra Meadows community center. The cost is $25 for guild members and $30 for nonmembers.
“The whole purpose of this class is to have the students relax and enjoy applique,” said Bornhorst. She said students will learn several methods of applique and can then choose which works best for them.
During the class, participants will choose a Hawaiian applique pattern and cut it out. “The pattern requires attention to detail when folding and cutting the fabric,” said Bornhorst. “Applique is hand work that can be taken anywhere and does not require a sewing machine.”

The Chester PieceMakers Quilt Guild meets every month except December. The next meeting is set for Monday, March 11, at 1 p.m. at the Almanor Recreation Center in Chester. All are welcome.
