Longboard races on for March 17

The Plumas Ski Club reports that the World Championship Longboard Races are on for March 17. Races to determine the season’s champions will be held starting at noon at the Historic Johnsville Ski Bowl located in Plumas-Eureka State Park just above Johnsville.

Racers compete on wooden skis, wearing 1860s-style clothing and using authentic historical ski wax. Entrance is free for spectators.

Beer, wine, food and merchandise will be available. Organizers are predicting a large turnout, meaning parking may be difficult. Attendees are encouraged to carpool when possible and take advantage of a shuttle, which will run starting at 10 a.m.

This is the last longboard event of the season. More information is available at
