Both the Plumas National Forest and Lassen National Forest have announced that they have submitted grant proposals to the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division. Review and comment by the public is welcome through 5 p.m. May 6.
Plumas National Forest
The Plumas National Forest has completed two grant applications consisting of off-highway vehicle ground operations and law enforcement projects. This will support trail maintenance, patrols and other work in support of OHV trails on the Plumas National Forest.
The forest’s preliminary grant application is available for public review at https://olga.ohv.parks.ca.gov/egrams_ohmvr. On the site, the menu contains public review instructions and reviewing preliminary applications information.
“We appreciate comments from the public for these OHV grant applications supporting the OHV trails on the Plumas National Forest,” said Acting Deputy Forest Supervisor Bernadette Barthelenghi. “OHV use is among the favorite recreation opportunities on the forest and we look forward to the opportunity for funding to support this use.”

Lassen National Forest
Each year, the Lassen National Forest has an opportunity to submit grant applications to the California State Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division for consideration for funding in support of the forest’s ongoing off-highway vehicle program. As part of the state’s 2024 grant cycle, the forest is submitting a proposal for a law enforcement project that includes off-highway vehicle area patrols and enforcement.
As part of the application process, stakeholders are encouraged to make comments on submitted applications. The comments will be used to shape the final grant application package, which is due to the California State Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division by June 3.
Preliminary applications for the 2024 projects are available for review and comment on the California State Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division’s website. Interested parties can find more information about Lassen’s off-highway vehicle program on the forest’s website.
