The Lost Sierra Food Project nonprofit announces it is seeking a new board member. The organization encourages motivated individuals to apply for one- to two-year terms and hopes to fill the position by May.
The mission of LSFP is to increase access to local foods for Plumas County residents, prioritizing underserved populations; provide workforce development programs; and create educational food and farming opportunities.
“Being on the LSFP board is a great way to give back to your community while meeting new people and having fun,” said Emma Talamantes, outreach and events coordinator. “You’ll have the opportunity to attend quarterly meetings, volunteer, and help strengthen Plumas County’s local food system.”

To apply, interested individuals are invited to answer the following questions in an email to [email protected]:
- What is your interest in the food movement or local food access?
- What do you see as potential contributions you could bring to the LSFP board (i.e., fundraising, support
with grant writing, event planning, networking, connections to/already working with vulnerable
populations, etc.)? - What experience(s) do you have that relates to this position?
- Is there anything else you want to share?
The email should also include the sender’s name, email address, phone number and mailing address.
“Please realize we are interested in all kinds of skills and backgrounds,” said Talamantes. “Fundraising, capital management, human resources, working with or coming from communities of diverse or disadvantaged backgrounds, and marketing are just some of the areas of expertise we seek. You don’t need any experience growing food!”
After emails have been received, LSFP will schedule small group interviews with individual candidates.
