Plumas County Library adds family programs

Session on financial literacy set for tonight at 6

The Quincy branch of the Plumas County Library announces a new series of programs for the family focusing on financial literacy and online safety. The sessions run from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday evenings in the meeting room at the Quincy library at 445 Jackson St. The schedule is as follows:

  • March 25: Family financial literacy for families with children ready to be more independent from their parents. Participants will learn how to balance a checkbook, read a bank or credit statement, budget money and more.
  • April 1: Online social media and internet safety for the whole family, including grandparents. For families concerned with safety online for their child(ren) and other members of the family.
  • April 8: Family financial literacy for families with tweens. This session offers tips and tricks on saving money, planning for special purchases and managing an allowance.
  • April 15: Online social media and internet safety for the whole family, including grandparents. For families concerned with safety online for their child(ren) and other members of the family.
  • April 22: Family financial literacy for families with children 4 to 10 years of age. Children can learn the value of money through stories and games and explore coin values.
  • April 29: For families concerned with safety online for their child(ren) and other members of the family.

Financial and online safety classes will also be offered through May and June, and those dates will be announced in the future, said Interim County Librarian Sharon McKay. For more information, McKay invites calls to the Quincy literacy program at 530-283-6413.

Other family programming in Quincy includes Family Game Night on the first and third Fridays of the month. The next session is set for April 5. McKay reported that the game night will continue through the year.
