Sierra Christian Church in Beckwourth invites everyone in the community to its upcoming family movie night Friday, April 19. Organizers say the event will feature “The Perfect Race,” a movie the entire family can enjoy.
In “The Perfect Race,” coach Courtney Donnelly takes her coaching wisdom to the track and works with a female athlete at a small Christian college who tries to overcome long odds and win a national title in the 800-meter run. Donnelly’s training methods and teachings about life both line up with the concept that “in order to win … you first have to lose.”
“This movie, based on Jesus’ words in Luke 9:24, has some practical advice for Christian living and a clear, heartfelt presentation of the gospel,” say organizers. “Don’t we all need encouragement from time to time as we journey through the ups and downs of life?”
Organizers encourage community members to attend, and also invite family, friends and neighbors to join them. Doors open at 6 p.m. to enjoy finger foods, popcorn and drinks before the movie starts at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 81059 Highway 70 in Beckwourth.
