Organizers are busy preparing for Summerfest, the 14th annual summer celebration at the historic White Sulphur Springs Ranch in Clio. It is always held on the last Sunday of June, which falls this year on June 30. Volunteer John Lullo reports that Summerfest is the single biggest fundraiser for the completely nonprofit Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council. “This group of tireless volunteers is dedicated to the restoration of the property for use by the community,” he said.
The event will be held at 2200 Highway 89, where the old ranch house presides over the entrance to Mohawk Valley. As always, Summerfest is an outdoor event. Attendees should bring lawn chairs and leave pets at home.
The afternoon’s entertainment starts at 4 p.m. and features Matt Axton and Bad Moon. Matt comes from a long line of musical talent: His father was Hoyt Axton and his grandmother wrote the song “Heartbreak Hotel” for Elvis Presley. Matt describes his music as a “humble slice of America,” including everything from country to rock and roll.

The gates open at 3 p.m. and the Summerfest festivities conclude at 7:30 p.m. “Early ticket sales make the planning process easier, so this year there will be an incentive to buy tickets before June 1,” said Lullo. The adult early-bird price is $65 until May 31, and then $70 after that date. Kids 12 and under get in for $20. Tickets are available online at http://www.WhiteSulphurSpringsRanch.com and at Millie’s Ice Cream and Coffee Co. in downtown Graeagle. Organizers expect the event to sell out again this year.
“Food and drink are always a very special feature at Summerfest,” said Lullo. This year the ranch barbecue with all the trimmings is being provided by Clarky’s BBQ Smoke and More. The famous Porta-Saloon will be there and the beverage tent will be full of wine and margaritas.
The event will feature both live and silent auctions and this year. As in 2023, the live auction will be conducted by Rick Roberti, of Loyalton. Local entertainer Bob Caudle will act as master of ceremonies.
The restored ranch house will be open for tours from 3 to 4 p.m. “Each year the improvements are dramatic and the swimming pool is still a high priority,” said Lullo. More ranch history is available on the website, and questions regarding Summerfest may be directed to 530-836-2530.
