Nature Made Kids’ Camp returns June 1

Plumas Rural Services announces that the Nature Made Kids’ Camp program is returning for a second season. All kids in grades kindergarten through 12 are invited to join the fun on the following dates this summer:

  • June 1, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • July 13, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Aug. 10, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Camp is held at Wild Plumas, 1323 Greenville Wolf Creek Road in Greenville. These free days of fun, learning and adventure include complimentary snacks and lunches for all kids. Kids can participate in multiple activity stations throughout the full-day program, including climbing a 24-foot mobile rock wall with Paralympian Mark Wellman, panning for gold, painting rocks, sliding on a zip line and exploring a tree house. Additional stations may vary month to month depending on the availability of community volunteer activity hosts.

Gold panning is just one activity available to Nature Made Kids’ Camp participants.

All youth, including returning youth who attended last year, must complete an initial registration form to participate this summer. In addition, preregistration for each month is required and is due one week prior to the camp day. For the June 1 camp, registrations must be submitted by Saturday, May 25.

Nature Made is a collaboration between Plumas Rural Services and Greenville-based Wild Plumas, born of a joint desire to provide a nature-based program for youth in Indian Valley that promotes fun, learning and adventure. North Valley Community Foundation, the Dixie Fire Collaborative and the Almanor Community Foundation came together to jointly fund this opportunity to create a safe and engaging space for children living through the rebuilding of their community after the Dixie Fire.
