Sierra Christian Church hosts human trafficking presentation

Sierra Christian Church announces it will host a presentation by Jenna McKaye on Saturday, May 18, at 1 p.m. Organizers report that McKaye is a survivor of human trafficking with an incredible life story that she now shares throughout the country. They encourage community members who wonder what to do about human trafficking to attend.

McKaye’s extraordinary journey offers hope that inspires others through education and training. She continues to train hospital staff, law enforcement and other first responders how to identify victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking. Her personable keynote speaking engagements leave a notable impression among a variety of audience demographics including the United Nations, say organizers.

In 2016, McKaye started the Jenna McKaye Foundation to engage in a broader advocacy training model and to provide equine therapy to victims and high-risk youth. McKaye has been interviewed on podcasts across the country and internationally, including Elizabeth Smart’s “Smart Talks.” She consulted on the award-winning documentary “Surviving Sex Trafficking.” McKaye serves on the board for the Worthy Ranch in Montana and Cycling for Change in New York. She worked with Sen. Shannon Grove for two years to successfully get Senate Bill 14 passed into law.

McKaye’s story has been optioned for a film and is in preproduction now. Those interested can visit jennamckaye.com to learn more.

Sierra Christian Church is located at 81059 Highway 70 in Beckwourth. For more information about the presentation, call 530-249-9136.
