Free Narcan trainings available to the public

The Plumas County Public Health Agency is providing free educational awareness training in the use of Narcan, a preparation of hydrochloride of naloxone administered as a nasal spray in order to treat overdose. Trainings are held in the Mineral Building at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, May 21, 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 6, 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 12, 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 7, 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m.

The trainings are free for the public, and no registration is required. Attendees will receive two doses of Narcan, proper education on identifying an overdose, and how to use Narcan to save a life.

“Substance abuse is a public health issue that occurs everywhere, in all races and ages, and may be closer than you think,” say organizers. “This is your chance to become comfortable with carrying Narcan and could save a life!”
