Dalton Bentz selected for elite basketball camp

Dalton Bentz is going to Kansas City. The Indian Valley Academy sophomore has been selected to attend Crossroads Elite Invitational basketball camp for three days with some of the best young basketball players in the country.

The invitation came out of the blue, Dalton said: “I don’t really know how they found me.” It may have been an Next College Student Athlete college recruiting video he posted on Instagram, he added.

Dalton has been playing with the Indian Valley Warriors as well as the Monstars, an amateur athletic team of high school-aged boys from Chester, Quincy, Greenville and Indian Valley. He also plays for Battle Born, based in Reno, and the Orland Panthers of Orland.

The Crossroads camp, held May 28 through 30, will put him with 250 freshman and sophomore boys who show exceptional promise as basketball players. Many alumni go on to careers with the National Basketball Association. Notable alumni include Michael Porter, Kevin Knox, Bol Bol, John Petty, Kris Wilkes, Isiah Jasey, Jeremiah Tilmon and Darius Garland, according to the organization’s website.

The invitation came through Instagram from Adam Shoulders, camp founder and recruiting director, Dalton said. “It’s a stage … that gives you the chance to see where you stack up against the nation’s best,” said Shoulders in his letter of invitation.

Dalton, a shooting guard, is the first player from Plumas County to be recruited to the camp, he said.
