Terry Oestreich

June 21, 1960 - Jan. 20, 2024

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Terry Oestreich from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at Graeagle Meadows Golf Course. Terry passed away on Jan. 20, 2024 after a valiant and graceful fight with the scourge that is cancer.  She was 63 years old.

Terry was a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother (TT), wife, sister, friend and mentor. She was born June 21, 1960 in Santa Cruz, California, and moved to Chilcoot, California, at the age of 8 when her grandparents purchased the Last Chance Bar & Restaurant. There she developed a strong work ethic that would serve her well throughout her life. She spent the bulk of her life in and around beautiful Plumas County.

Terry earned her bachelor’s degree from Morrison University and her master’s degree from Western Governor’s University. She was a strong leader who navigated our schools through many new obstacles, including the 2021 Dixie Fire and COVID. Because of her dedicated leadership, Terry was named Professional Woman of the Year in 2022.

Terry is predeceased by her grandparents Fred and Lillie Marie Gillen; her mother Sherridan Gillen Bisbee; cousin Dominic Martini and husband Thobe Oestreich. She is survived by her daughters Melissa Carson (Steven) of Reno, Meghan Daun (Robin), and Mallory Marin of Quincy; grandsons Dominic Daun, Rocco Daun, Nolan Carson, Landry Carson; granddaughter Adison Marin; brother Robert Gillen and sister-in-law Kristy of Chester; nephews Eric Gillen (Kelsie) of Sonora and Joseph Gillen (Julia) of Reno; stepfather Dennis Bisbee of Reno; her beloved Aunt Judy and Uncle Michael Martini of Portola and cousin Fayne. Not to mention her sister in spirit Laurie Belli (Ray) of Loyalton. She leaves many cherished friends and colleagues as well.

There is so much to tell about Terry. She was a dedicated worker whether she was working the counter at Wiggins Trading Post or in her role as Plumas County Superintendent of Schools. But without question, her greatest work was raising her beloved daughters and her deepest joy came from fostering profound relationships with each of her cherished grandchildren. Terry was a fierce believer in speaking truth and positivity. She inspired and lifted up those around her, leaving you feeling like the best version of yourself. She is deeply missed by those of us who loved her.

We look forward to sharing joyful memories of this respected and well-loved woman. How blessed were those of us who crossed into the path of her being! We will have appetizers and a no-host bar at the Graeagle Meadows Clubhouse from 5 to 7 p.m. on the evening of June 22
