The Feather River Resource Conservation District reports that, conditions permitting, Berkeley Forests will be implementing an underburn at Baker Forest in Meadow Valley on Tuesday, June 4. Prescribed fire practitioners will include UC Berkeley Forestry Camp students, Plumas Cal-TREX participants, and Plumas Underburn Cooperative volunteers.
Organizers say this prescribed burn will provide a learning opportunity for students and community members, reduce fuels and wildfire hazard, and help restore fire-adapted forests.

Weather and fuel conditions are being monitored to mitigate smoke impacts to the surrounding areas, but minor, short-term smoke impacts should be expected. Residents of Meadow Valley should be aware of the possibility of reduced visibility on roadways.
