May 29: Wednesday Play Day
On Wednesday, May 29, on a warm and windless day, 23 Graeagle Men’s Golf Association players competed as four-man teams in a game of 1-2-3, plus skins. In this format one net ball counts on the first hole, two net balls count on the second hole and three net balls count on the third hole. On the fourth hole the process begins again.
First place was won by the team of Ron Eaton, Tony Phele, Don Judson and Bob Laxaque with a net score of 124. Second place was a tie between the team of Jim Oster/Norm Nichols/Lance Ragen/Tony Gonzales and the team of Anthony Miranda/Paul Senft/John Mitchell/Dan Friedman, both with net scores of 127.
Six skins were won by the following players: John Mitchell with a net 2 on the fifth hole, Bill Schultz with a net 2 on the ninth hole, Jim Oster with a net 3 on the 11th hole, Lance Raglen with a net 2 on the 13th hole, Don Judson with a net 2 on the 15th hole and Bob Laxaque with a net 4 on the 18th hole.
May 31: Friday Play Day
On Friday, May 31, the weather was again clear and sunny. The Graeagle Men’s Golf Association reports that 22 players competed as two-man teams in a game of Best Ball Front 9 and Both Balls Back 9, plus skins. First place was won by the team of Mark Yuill and Mike Winkel with a net score of 96. In second place was the team of Mario Garibotti and Joe Appleby with a net score of 105. In third place was the team of Norm Nichols and Mike Simpson with a net score of 106.
There were five skins awarded to the following players: Joe Appleby with a 2 on the fourth hole and a 2 on the sixth hole, Nate Coats with a 3 on the seventh hole and a 1 on the 16th hole, and Dan Anderson with a 1 on the 12th hole.
