As graduation season approaches, many students may be unsure of their next steps, says 1st District Assemblywoman Megan Dahle. “If you’re one of them, consider joining the trades through an apprenticeship — a unique and rewarding opportunity to build a successful career.”
The registered apprenticeship system combines classroom instruction with hands-on paid on-the-job training, making it the only formal, structured and nationally recognized education and training program of its kind. Apprentices earn wages while they learn, with pay increasing as they progress through the program, which is registered with the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
Upon completion, participants receive a certificate and skilled journeyworker status, recognized and respected by federal and state governments and relevant industries. Apprenticeship programs train individuals to become skilled craftspeople, equipping them with in-demand skills, comprehensive knowledge and a positive attitude for a successful career.
