Canyon Dam Day-Use Area under temporary closure

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. announces it is performing maintenance on a water gate at Lake Almanor’s Canyon Dam Low Level Outlet Tower this summer. The only access for PG&E equipment and materials onto the spillway is through the Canyon Dam Day-Use Area. For the general safety of the public, PG&E’s Canyon Dam Day-Use Area closed starting June 4 for approximately four to six weeks.

PG&E reports that after July 4, the day-use area will be partially open with restrooms accessible except for occasional complete closures of the day-use area. The facility will fully reopen after the project is completed later this summer.

PG&E’s Canyon Dam Day-Use Area is along Highway 89, just east of the dam.
