Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship invites the cycling community for a “casual shakeout ride” before the Portola Lost and Found Gravel Grinder race June 15. The shakeout ride is set for Friday, June 14, around Lake Davis.
Riders will meet at 10 a.m. at the Lake Davis Lightning Tree Boat Ramp (GPS coordinates: 39.93175, -120.50714). Participants will ride the 19-mile Lake Davis Loop, which is a “mix of mellow dirt/gravel doubletrack and 7 miles of fun SBTS-built singletrack,” with a total elevation gain of 800 feet, say organizers. There will be one aid station at the start/finish with plenty of snacks and hydration.
“We will have an informal lead-out and sweep, but the ride is self-supported so be prepared with a flat-repair kit and water bottles, and feel free to ride at your own pace,” says SBTS. The route can be found at https://caltopo.com/m/0NS10.
Riders are asked to RSVP and let SBTS know if they are going to join the ride. More information is available at https://sierratrails.org/.
