Curtis Marshall was born Oct. 2, 1943 and passed away May 20, 2024.
Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His life was a testament to hard work, integrity, and love for his family and community. Curtis grew up in a close-knit family, where he learned the values of perseverance and dedication that would define his character throughout his life.
Curtis graduated from Portola High School in 1962 and embarked on a successful career with the U.S. Forest Service, beginning as a smokejumper and moving to patrol. During his time at the Forest Service, he began working for the Portola Fire Department and was the fire chief for 40 years.
He married the love of his life, Linda Tarantino (Marshall) on Sept. 18, 1976, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two children, instilling in them the same values that guided Curtis throughout his life. He was a doting grandfather to six grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter to his later years.
Anyone who knew Curtis knew his unwavering devotion for the San Francisco 49ers, never seeing him without some Niners gear on. His friends and family will always remember his warm smile, his readiness to lend a helping hand, and his ability to find joy in the simplest moments.
Curtis is survived by his children Clifford Marshall (Dusty) and Kristy Pierson (Justin); grandchildren Emmaly, April, Aedin Aly, Triptyn; Keevan, and a wide circle of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, and his brothers, Ray and Gene Marshall.
A graveside service was held June 3, 2024, at Shady Grove cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Portola Station Baptist Church, where friends and family gathered to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
Curtis Marshall’s life was a rich tapestry of love, service, and dedication. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
