KQNY radio news now updated twice a week

KQNY 91.9 FM, Plumas Community Radio, has announced that the radio news show it produces in partnership with The Plumas Sun is now updated twice each week rather than once. The shows airs seven days a week at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and is available on demand at kqny919.org and here on the Plumas Sun website by clicking the link in the lower right corner of the home page.

The news program was started by Miles Brooks and Beth Rouse last summer, said Tommy Miles, KQNY’s general manager. Since then, a group of dedicated volunteers, including Brandi Christensen, Mikayla Eager, Rob Krinsky, Emmanuel Lemnah, Madi Lloyd and Dave Loschiavo, has stepped up to the task of keeping the show rolling. One team produces a show on Monday evenings to begin airing on Tuesday mornings, and the other does it on Thursday evenings for initial broadcast on Fridays. Miles reports that the show includes content from The Plumas Sun as well as KQNY’s original reporting and a database of current events maintained by longtime volunteer Nance Reed.

Miles said he is grateful for the efforts of the volunteer news crew. “The commitment these people show is inspiring! They really care about supporting honest journalism, helping to keep the community informed, and maintaining the station as a community resource,” he said.

KQNY invites community members interested in getting involved in any capacity to send a message to the station at https://www.kqny919.org/contact-us.html.
