Bike team starts monthly community rides

UPDATE: The date for the September ride has been changed to Sept. 12. Time and place remain the same.

The Lost Sierra Composite Mountain Bike Team announces it will start up a no-drop monthly community ride during the off-season. These rides will also serve as recruitment rides for the team’s next season.

Rides will be held on third Thursdays and are open to all team members, kids interested in checking out the team (kids who will be in sixth through 12th grade in spring 2025) and parents who are interested in joining in.

Rides will be held 5 to 7 p.m. July through September and March, and 4:30 to 6 p.m. October through February. Those who are not current team members should arrive 10 minutes early to sign a waiver. Rides depart from the Barlow Trailhead on Barlow Road in Quincy.

Coaches explain that a no-drop ride is focused on building community and camaraderie, and recruiting new team members. Riders of all abilities are welcomed and encouraged to join.

Participants should bring a bike, helmet, backpack, two of liters water, two snacks, a tube for their bike, gloves, eye protection and clothing layers appropriate for the weather. Anyone who is interested in checking out the team but doesn’t have the gear is invited to email team director Dana Marty at [email protected].

No-drop ride dates and times are as follows:

  • July 18, 5 – 7 p.m.
  • Aug. 15, 5 – 7 p.m.
