Food collaborative celebrates progress, upcoming events

The Feather River Food System Collaborative reports that it is excited to share updates on ongoing initiatives and upcoming events. As the prime growing season is in full swing, the FRFSC team welcomes the community to join them in celebrating progress and participating in activities to garner support for the project.

Over the past year, the collaborative has organized workshops, classes, taste tests and demonstrations across the county to support its mission of collaborating with regional producers, academic institutions and additional organizations to facilitate year-round access to locally sourced farm food for school students. Engaging workshops for school food service and students offer hands-on culinary experiences focused on procurement, preservation and packaging.

FRFSC will participate in the upcoming Plumas-Sierra County Fair from July 25 to 28. The fair will feature live music, food and beverages, kids’ activities, games and more. The family-friendly event promises fun for all ages. The collaborative welcomes everyone to visit its booth to learn more about projects, meet the team and learn how to get involved. The booth will showcase interactive displays, program information and engaging activities suitable for all age groups.

FRFSC announces collaborations with local farms to host engaging cooking demonstrations this summer. These events offer opportunities to showcase and celebrate the high-quality local produce available in local communities. The collaborative encourages everyone to keep an eye on its website for the upcoming workshop schedule. Workshops will be offered on culinary skills, food preservation, procurement and packaging.

FRFSC invites community members, students, parents and guardians to join its volunteer network. More information regarding volunteering or instruction is available at https://forms.gle/PcFbnSUXPiWzMx4V7
