Feather River College rodeo team coach Zack Brown reports that the FRC men’s rodeo team finished third in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association West Coast Region 2023-2024 season and the women’s team placed fifth.
FRC students also placed in the men’s all-around, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, breakaway roping and goat tying categories. The full standings are available to view online.
College National Finals
The FRC rodeo team had a good showing at the College National Finals Rodeo, reports Brown. The rodeo was held the second week of June in Casper, Wyoming.
The team placed in a couple of the rounds in team roping: Tanner Kerr and Tyler Jones placed in the first round and Joey Rawls and Billy Avilles placed in the third round. Cody Russell also represented the team well in the bull riding.


Brown reported that the West Coast Region also won the associated slow-pitch softball tournament and brought home the trophy.
West Coast Regional Finals
Previously, the rodeo team had a great showing at the West Coast Regional Finals at University of Nevada, Las Vegas in May, reports Brown. In the first round, Joey Rawls won the steer wrestling, Joey Rawls and Tanner Kerr placed fourth in the team roping, Emilee Miller placed fourth in the goat tying and Hailey Hicks was fifth in the goat tying.
In the second round, Kyle Stewart won the tie-down roping, Kyler Compton placed second in the bareback riding, Emilee Miller was second in barrel racing and Hailey Hicks placed third in the goat tying.
