Fire Safe Council honors Bill Davies

The Plumas County Fire Safe Council reports it has presented Bill Davies with a certificate of recognition for his outstanding contribution to wildfire preparedness.

Davies has been a resident of the Seneca area for about 27 years and has ample knowledge of the land, having spent his whole life in the area with his family, said PCFSC. Seneca neighbor Joe Smailes said Davies is a remarkable neighbor who generously offers his time to help others without expecting anything in return.

Davies has taken the initiative to organize the Seneca Firewise Community, demonstrating his dedication and effort toward necessary fuel reduction actions. As a responsible land steward, Davies is equally concerned about his neighbor’s properties, including land managed by the U.S. Forest Service. His compassion for the land and its residents sets an example for all rural landowners, said PCFSC.

Amber Hughes and Rachel Wehrman nominated Davies for this recognition, with the addition of input from Smailes. The nomination was supported by a subcommittee of the PCFSC board of directors.

The PCFSC Volunteer Recognition Program honors those who have taken actions to reduce losses from wildfire. The program focuses on prefire activities that protect communities. Anyone is welcome to nominate someone who has taken actions to protect Plumas County communities from potential fire hazards.
