In the midst of active wildfires in Northern California — including the local Gold Complex Fire and the Butte/Tehama County Park Fire — the Plumas Underburn Cooperative shares some useful resources for tracking emergency and preparedness information.
- Those who live in Plumas County can sign up for emergency alerts through the Plumas County emergency notification system, called Genasys.
- Emergency preparedness information and strategies are available on the Plumas County Fire Safe Council fire preparedness page.
- Information on specific fires can be found on the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection active incident page.
- The app for mobile phones from the nonprofit Watch Duty provides real-time fire alerts and updates.
- More local updates are available on the Facebook pages for Plumas National Forest, Plumas County Sheriffs Office, and Cal Fire Lassen-Modoc-Plumas Unit.
“Let’s take time today to make sure our loved ones are prepared for wildfire season,” said Logan Krahenbuhl, Plumas Underburn Cooperative project manager. “Pack a ‘go bag,’ know multiple evacuation routes and know where to receive official emergency information.”
He thanked local residents for being part of a strong community in which people care about each other.
