Feather River College announces it will begin its fall semester Monday, Aug. 19. “Students from around the world will make their way to Quincy to begin another academic school year that will be filled with lots of hands-on learning, competitive athletics and, of course, many events that the community is invited to attend,” said Nick Maffei, FRC director of marketing, communications and outreach.
Each year the college offers a Week of Welcome, featuring events that range from pool parties to movie nights to the annual Concert on the Green. This year, Maffei reports the Concert on the Green will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Quincy FRC campus. The concert is free and open to community members.

This year’s concert will feature FRC alumnus Jesse Williams, who uses the pronouns they/them. Williams, who performs as Lxttle Boy Blue, promises a fun-filled show upon returning to their alma mater. Williams recently graduated from University of California, Davis, while also signing with a record label after a video of their iconic commencement walk went viral.
When asked about their time at FRC and returning to where their collegiate academic journey began, Williams said, “It’s all love for that community.” Williams said their time at FRC was filled with joyous moments of accomplishment and leadership opportunities though serving as student body president. They capped it off perfectly as an enthusiastic student speaker during graduation, which all in attendance will probably never forget, said Maffei.
FRC is very excited to welcome Williams and their musical talents back to campus, said Maffei.
The annual Concert on the Green is only one of many events that will take place during the upcoming fall semester. Community members interested in learning more about the variety of events hosted at the college are encouraged to check out frc.edu, where upcoming events are listed on the web calendar.
Locals can also tune into the “Golden Eagle Update” on local community radio, KQNY 91.9. The college works with the local station to curate a special segment that airs weekly and discusses upcoming events, recent accolades and anything of interest to local listeners.
Staff and faculty at FRC say they are eager to welcome back students to campus and create a new set of connections and community with this incoming class. Community members interested in taking a class this semester are encouraged to contact an academic advisor to see what is available at [email protected] or 530-283-0202, ext. 313.
“Feather River College appreciates the support of our local community in welcoming this new wave of students and always loves seeing Golden Eagles interacting with local businesses and organizations around town,” said Maffei. He encourages everyone to find more information on academic calendars, fall courses and anything FRC related at frc.edu.
