Plumas County Human Resources Director Nancy Louise Selvage is scheduled for a jury trial beginning Nov. 12 in Plumas County Superior Court. The trial, set during Selvage’s court appearance Aug. 16, is expected to take two weeks.
Selvage, 68, of Quincy, faces three criminal counts related to her alleged activity as a department head on and following May 17, 2022. Plumas County District Attorney David Hollister filed a criminal complaint for her arrest Nov. 16, 2023, following a months-long investigation.
Among the charges are conflict of interest, obtaining money by false pretenses and preparing false documentary evidence for the Plumas County Board of Supervisors in her capacity as a county department head. The complaint stems from pay raises awarded on May 24, 2022, specifically a 43% raise for herself, which Selvage negotiated and recommended as the HR director, and then personally received as an employee of Plumas County.
Selvage pleaded not guilty Jan. 19 to all three criminal counts. At her April 9 preliminary hearing, visiting Judge Raymond Giordano found sufficient evidence to hold Selvage to answer to all three charges.
Eric Acevedo, Selvage’s attorney based in Gold River, in Sacramento County, filed a motion to dismiss all charges but later withdrew it.
Selvage is free on her own recognizance.
