Organizers reports that on Aug. 4, 5 and 6, members of the Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club and the Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club presented their 2024 Combined Invitational with the theme of The Wild, Wild West in the Pines.
A horse race, which is an elimination format, was held Sunday afternoon, Aug. 4, at Graeagle Meadows Golf Course. The last team standing, and horse race winner, was the team of Ginger Holladay-Houston, Carol Mitchell, Jill Lauderdale and Penny Frank.
On Monday, Aug. 5, the first invitational round was played at Graeagle Meadows Golf Course and the second round was played at Plumas Pines Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The format was the two best net balls of the foursome, plus low gross over the field. Organizers offer congratulations to the low gross over the field winning team: Cynthia Baldwin, Kris Sutton, Carla Bessette and Debbie Fuetsch, whose two-round two best gross score balls totaled 297.
In the first (Annie Oakley) flight, net winners were as followers:
- First place: the team of Karen Caterino, Lisa Mantkus, Lorraine Onesian and Nadine Winn, with a team net score of 251
- Second place: the team of Jennifer Doll, Kathy Matthews, Jeanne Marsh and Lisa Anderson, with 252 in a card-off
- Third place: the team of Jocelyn Zarubi, Susan Richards, Patty Evans and Elizabeth Anderson, also with 252
In the second (Calamity Jane) flight, the winners were as follows:
First place: the team of Nancy Linch, Dee Walker, Renee Miller and Tina Humphreys, with a team net score of 254
Second place: the team of Joan Lapham, Rayne Niehaus, Connie Wharton and Janie Cooke, with 258 in a card-off
Third place: the team of Mikie Burdick, Judy Rossi, Karen Scurlock and Darlene Gibaut, also with 258
The event included a contest for best costume; the winning team was Dottie Hattich, Cindy Miller, Valerie Van Hosten and Lynn Godfrey. Final round play was followed by an awards luncheon and prize giveaway at the Plumas Pines Restaurant. “And a good time was had by all,” conclude organizers.
